Karmic Knot Gets Hot on Signe’s Special Day, August 7, 2025

Dear Friends and Backers,

We wish you a Happy August! The heat is on and we hope you are on a beach taking a well deserved vacation on warm sand under a pleasant shade of well positioned trees.

For us the heat is on, too! The studio is hot and bustling with activity. We are making background sets for director Signe Baumane’s new animated feature film Karmic Knot, lighting them, shooting them and animating, animating, animating! Today, August 7th, is Signe’s birthday. It is also a working day. Signe will have no for time parties, toasts, cakes, or celebrations - but what would make her very, very happy would be your gift to Karmic Knot, small or large, her gratitude would be immense. See the Support page on the website.

Thanks to YOU, we were able to meet our Spring Matching Grant goal: THANK YOU! Along with additional foundation support, we have been able to hire Art Assistants - just as we promised - young female artists right out of top animation schools giving them the opportunity and experience of having their first paying Job in the Arts. Every day we eat lunch together starting with watermelon.

But there’s a long, long way to go until Karmic Knot finally has its premiere in 2028 (you are all invited!).

Some of our footage is quite haunting and powerful, we can’t wait to share it with you! Every day we hear the actors’ voices in the studio as Signe puts the pieces together. 44 actors gave their voices to Karmic Knot. You can see who they are,  photos of some of them recording, and all their IMDb pages on the Cast/Team page of the website.

Our Latvian Team at Studio Locomotive in Riga is also picking up speed. They are working on 3D segments of the film, as well as coloring and compositing the animation. Signe talks with them regularly - our computers are super-connected so we can share files immediately in real time.

Studio Locomotive Producer Dominiks Jarmakovičs been busy making partnership deals, finding producing partners in the right places. We will share the news as events unfold.
